SUNCARE CHEATSHEET

-

1 BUY BROAD SPECTRUM

It’s important to make sure your SPF protects against UVA and UVB rays. UVA rays are the ones that contribute to skin ageing and UVB rays are what cause the skin to burn. Make sure your product is referred to as being ‘broad spectrum’.

2 CHECK SELL-BY DATES

Most SPFS will last 12 months from opening – check the logo on the bottle (a number in a jar). Unopened bottles can still degrade if exposed to sunlight and heat, so keep them in a cool, dark place.

3 BE THOROUGH

Don’t forget to apply on every area of exposed skin, including your eyelids (yes, they can burn if not protected), the tops of your ears, your parting, the back of your neck and your lips.

4 APPLY PLENTY

Most people aren’t applying enough SPF – you should use a 2p-sized dollop on your face alone.* It might look a lot, but blend it in properly and it will vanish. You may want to skip day cream if your skin is oily.
