COULD I BE PREGNANT AT 50?

-

Q

I had a one-night stand. I am 50, but have regular periods. Do I need the morning-after pill? We live in a village. My husband is the pharmacist and my daughter works in reception at my GP surgery. How can I get the pill without them knowing?

A

You need to use contraception for a year after your last natural period over the age of 50 or for two years if your last period occurs before 50. You can go to any GP surgery for contraception and visit a different pharmacy. You can also visit a sexual health clinic without a referral – you’ll find these at nhs.uk.
