The Duchess of Cambridge’s life may be like a fairy tale, but her path to marrying the future king was far from linear. Kate, now 40, met Wills at the University of St Andrews in Scotland back in 2001 and the pair soon became close friends before they took their relationship to the next level. However, 2007 saw them hit a rough patch, with Prince William later admitting, ‘We did split up for a bit… we both were very young… we were sort of both finding ourselves as such and being different characters and stuff. It was very much trying to find our own way and we were growing up, and so it was just sort of a bit of space and a bit of things like that, and it worked out for the better.’ Three kids and 11 years of marriage later, we tend to agree.
