My mum loves Marks & Sparks but now her favourite store is trending for all the wrong reasons.
The high-street chain – which is struggling to compete with ‘younger’ outlets – has announced that, in future, female changing rooms will be open to anyone.
Mum’s now 81 and she took me to our local store for my first bra fitting when I was around 11. Would she do that now, knowing that the lingerie area changing rooms are open to men?
No. She’d have been angry and I’d have been mortified. I even blushed when Dad discovered I had started wearing bras.
Marks & Spencer’s core market is, and always will be, women like my mum. They’d learn a very valuable lesson if they remembered that.
