MY HUSBAND’S BECOME ABUSIVE

-

Q

Seven months ago, my husband was made redundant and we are struggling to pay our bills. He’s losing his temper a lot and recently started swearing at our daughters and even throwing things at them (they’re 11 and 14). When I asked him to stop, he pushed me so hard, my head hit the wall, although he was immediately sorry. I said I understood and tried to explain it to the girls, but they were scared. What do I do?

It’s one thing to be understanding and another to make excuses for these abusive outbursts. It doesn’t matter how stressful life has become for your husband – he knows he shouldn’t swear, throw things or act aggressively towards you or your children. Ask him to seek help from your GP and, at the same time, contact Family Lives for advice and support on 0808 800 2222.
