The dashcam
When police community support officer Julia James was found dead in a field in Kent in April 2021, it was down to dashcam footage that Callum Wheeler was caught.
Gamekeeper Gavin Tucker had been driving his Land Rover across farmland when he’d spotted a figure crossing a field a day after Julia’s murder. The image he captured on his dashcam showed the 22-year-old killer carrying a long item wrapped in plastic bags – it was revealed later that this was the pole Wheeler had used to attack Julia.
The police said Mr Tucker’s images were ‘significant’ in cracking the case.
Wheeler was jailed for life, with a minimum term of 37 years, in July.
