Plant spring bulbs

-

Before the winter frosts harden the ground, plant out your spring bulbs. Species such as narcissus, crocus and snowdrops prefer well-fertilised, freedraining soil, so dig in lots of sharp sand and some bonemeal that will feed the bulbs over a long period. Plant at two or three times the depth of the bulb itself, spaced at two or three times their width. Large drifts look great on a lawn, but if you don’t have a big garden, plant some bulbs in pots to enjoy indoors or on your patio.
