I feel manipulated at work

-

Q Over the past few years, I have really lost my confidence. This is at its worst at work. One of the people I work with is a woman half my age who is highly manipulative. She is always telling me what to do and taking credit for my work. When I say something to her, she denies everything or acts like I can’t remember things properly. She’s making me so stressed and anxious. Please help.

A Gaslighting at work is when a colleague or manager manipulates you to the point that you question your memory. The gaslighter does this by denying events, downplaying your emotions and suggesting you don’t recall things correctly. Start by documenting her behaviour and comments, then talk to your manager, explaining how it’s impacting your mental health.
