‘IT’S A MAD ADVENTURE’
The Ladhood actor stars in new comedy horror Wreck… There are chills, thrills and lots of laughs to be had in this six-part series set on board a luxury cruise liner where a killer in a duck costume is on the loose!
Oscar Kennedy, best known for starring in coming-of-age comedy Ladhood, stars as Jamie, who’s desperate to find his sister, Pippa (Jodie Tyack).
‘Jamie comes from a troubled home and the one person who looked out for him was his sister,’ explains Oscar. ‘She went off to work on a cruise ship and the official story is that she’s gone missing and probably killed herself, but Jamie doesn’t believe she would leave him that way, so he gets a job on the ship and goes on this kind of mad adventure to find out what happened.’
With the help of fellow new recruit Vivian (Thaddea Graham), Jamie begins to look for clues by infiltrating the 3,000-strong crew, which also includes Pippa’s dodgy boyfriend Danny (Noughts + Crosses star Jack Rowan).
Soon they discover that a number of grisly murders are taking place on the ship, but who’s responsible? ‘I love the way that comedy and horror work together in Wreck,’ says Oscar. ‘I don’t feel there’s a point where it goes too far either way. It keeps you in this weird cycle of being freaked out, then having the slight relief of comedy and then being brought back to the edge of your seat again.’ ✣ Wreck is on BBC3 and BBC iplayer
