My ear is filled with gunk

We’ve just returned from an extended holiday in Australia. While we were away, I did a scuba diving course. I noticed that my ear was a bit sore on the flight home and now this morning I have a discharge coming out from the ear. I was wondering if there is anything I can get from the chemist to help me treat the problem, rather than bother my GP?

This sounds like an infection in which case you would need a prescription from your GP. You may have a condition called ‘swimmer’s ear’. This is an infection of the ear canal. Your GP will want to examine you and decide whether you need antibiotics by mouth or as drops.
