I constantly worry about my girls

-

Q I have two daughters, aged 21 and 25. They are lovely girls – one is away studying and the other lives in another town working. Since they have left home, I constantly worry about their safety and if they are looking after themselves. I text and call once a day which my husband believes is ridiculous, and my girls feel it is controlling. All I want is reassurance. Is it too much to ask?

A Your anxiety, while understandable, serves none of you. You must trust that your adult girls know how to look after themselves. It would help to listen to what they say and manage your anxiety. In finding ways to control your feelings, let go of your fears and stop contacting them so much. In turn, they will call more.
