Ongoing iron deficiency woes

QI saw my GP in Febnrudary because was feeling so tired all the time. After various tests, they discovered that I was low on iron. I’ve been taking iron supplement­s every breakfast time for months now, but a recent blood test showed my levels, although improved, are still on the low side. How can I get more iron into my system?

ATannins, found in coffee and tea, can sometimes make it difficult for your body to absorb iron, so try taking your supplement­s an hour before or an hour after your breakfast. Vitamin C, on the other hand, enhances iron absorption, so try swapping your morning coffee for a glass of orange juice.
