Fair Isle Jumper

As soon as Kim Shaw from Kilkenny in the Republic of Ireland saw this Fair Isle sweater in her 14 March 2017 issue of Woman’s Weekly, she knew she had to make it for her husband, Christian. Here he is sporting the fabulous finished jumper. The intermediate pattern was no challenge for self-taught knitter Kim, who always has at least one project on the go. ‘I enjoy knitting Fair Isle and Aran designs best,’ she says, ‘as I find them more interesting than plain knitting.’ We think she’s done a grand job.

Spot The Teddy

Nicola phinbow stitched this cute ted ahead of the arrival of her sister’s first child. The cuddly toy now sits proudly in the baby’s nursery, waiting to meet the newborn. Knitting the teddy was easy for experienced crafter Nicola.

‘i’ve been knitting on and off for 30 years, since my nan taught me at age 10,’ she says, ‘but more so in the past eight years, when i inherited her needles.’ perhaps Nicola will pass the skills on to her niece or nephew.
