Change Your Cleansing-Wipe Habit
Disposable wipes – whether for make-up or household cleaning – are a massive environmental problem. Yes, they’re convenient, but because they’re made of polyester and are non-biodegradable, disposing of them each day is definitely not good for the environment.
If you flush them down the loo, they don’t disintegrate in water like toilet paper does, so they get stuck in our sewers or get washed out to sea, where marine life mistake them for food. As they fragment, they release microscopic plastic particles, which can get into our food chain. Even in landfill, they’ll take hundreds of years to degrade.
Can’t live without wipes? Then hunt out the biodegradable versions, which will eventually rot down in landfill – just don’t flush them down the loo!
