Garden Shed

Woman's Weekly (UK) - - Contents -

Now’s a good time to dig a wildlife pond or rejuvenate an existing overgrown pond by removing and replanting baskets, taking care not to disturb any toad or frogspawn.

Now you can buy tender bedding and vegetable seedlings, ready for pricking out into trays to be grown on in a greenhouse or on a warm windowsill until they’re big and tough enough to be planted in the garden once fear of frost has passed.

Mulch around the sprawling plants, like dead nettles or Lamium White Nancy and Silver Beacon, to encourage them to fix loose stems into the soil with tiny roots. They’ll create a tight-knit, ground-hugging mat that will help trap moisture in the soil.
