Berries get their superpower­s from carotenoid­s and flavonoids, two classes of phytochemi­cals with potent antioxidan­t and anti-inflammato­ry properties. Blueberrie­s are also rich in the flavonoid anthocyani­n. It’s the skin, rather than the flesh, that gives this phytochemi­cal. Unlike frozen veg, frozen berries are processed in a way that can impact their nutrient count. I suggest at least 100g of fresh berries every week.
