Making The Bucket

1 Stitch the upper and lower panels together along one long edge. Press the seam open. Fold the panel in half and stitch the short edge, matching the ends of the seam. Press the seam open.

2 divide the long lower edge of the panel and circumfere­nce of the base into quarters, mark each division with a pin. Pin the panel to the base, matching the divisions. Snip into the lower edge of the panel to make the seam allowance lay flat. Stitch the circumfere­nce, snip the curves.

3 Fold the lining panel in half 3 and stitch the short edge. Press the seam open. repeat step 2 to stitch the lining panel to the lining base. Turn the bucket right side out. insert the lining into the bucket. Pin the upper raw edges together.

4 Press the binding lengthwise in half, wrong sides facing. Press under 6mm at one end to start. Pin and tack the binding inside the bucket, matching the raw edges, overlappin­g the ends. Stitch the upper edge.

5 Fold the binding over the upper edge. Pin and tack the pressed edge of the binding just over the seam. remove the bed of the sewing machine. Slip the bucket over the machine arm. On the right side, topstitch close to the pressed edge of the binding.

6 Press under 1cm on the outer edges of the handle. Press lengthwise in half with wrong sides facing. Tack the outer edges. Topstitch close to the outer edges.

Follow the manufactur­er’s 7

instructio­ns to fix the female section of a popper 1.5cm in from each end of the handle.

Fix the correspond­ing section to the bucket 2cm below the upper edge either side of the bucket.
