Shake Off The Shade

Woman's Weekly (UK) - - Knitting -

In the dry shade beneath trees, plant groundhugging ajuga, alchemilla, epimedium, bergenia, hellebores, lamium, pulmonaria, pachysandra and soft shield ferns. Make the emphasis on plants with shiny leaves and white or pale-coloured blooms, to lift the garden out of gloom. To get the plants off to a flying start, soil must be in good heart with plenty of organic matter added before planting, and using mulches will ensure better moisture retention.
