The revival of the red fox
Urban fox numbers in mainland Britain declined rapidly in the 1990s because of disease, but it’s amazing how quickly these resourceful mammals have repopulated over the last 20 years. With its suburban greenery, Bournemouth has more urban foxes than anywhere else in the UK, while in the capital, Hilton London Bankside’s regular visitor, dubbed the ‘Bankside Fox’, inspired a visual trail this summer to encourage tourists to get to know the area better.
