Urban fox numbers in mainland Britain declined rapidly in the 1990s because of disease, but it’s amazing how quickly these resourcefu­l mammals have repopulate­d over the last 20 years. With its suburban greenery, Bournemout­h has more urban foxes than anywhere else in the UK, while in the capital, Hilton London Bankside’s regular visitor, dubbed the ‘Bankside Fox’, inspired a visual trail this summer to encourage tourists to get to know the area better.
