Curtains offer the most variation with fabric and style. Whether you choose light, heavyweight or lined material will determine the drape, pleat and fall. Warm, heavy fabrics like velvet and tweed, are great for winter when you want your home to feel cosy. in summer, a lighter linen or cotton with a lining or blackout is best. to give the illusion of higher ceilings, curtains can be hung six inches or more above the window to extend the fall. the width, too, can be extended to ensure the curtains sit beyond the window frame, allowing maximum natural light to come in.
