3 ways to… soothe an over-busy mind

1 Get moving. A brisk walk is a great way to disperse stress chemicals which flood our bodies when we’re under pressure. They’re designed to get us moving – triggering our flight or fight response.

2 Grab a few almonds. They’re packed with magnesium, which has a calming effect, says nutritioni­st Suzie Sawyer. Bananas, pumpkin seeds or a glass of milk are good, too.

3 Just breathe… Try this breathing technique. Sit quietly and breathe slowly in and out through your nose. Gently cover one nostril and take 30 slow and steady breaths through your other nostril. Repeat on the other side.
