‘Blogging makes me happy and keeps me young’
Suzi Grant, 68, has just celebrated the fourth anniversary of her popular blog for the over 50s. ‘Following a career as a reporter and presenter on TV and radio, I re-trained as a nutritionist after my mum died of a heart attack at the age of 63.
‘At 60, I decide to retire – but four years on, I was bored. Separately, two of my godchildren suggested I write a blog, and as it drew on so many of my passions – photography, writing, broadcasting and health – I could see what a great outlet it would be.
‘I love vintage fashion and was inspired by the many women over 60 who dress well. I wanted to pass on styling tips to inspire women to use what they have in their wardrobes rather than buying a new
outfit. When I started my blog I had to learn quickly, taking photography courses, learning how to lay clothes out properly and edit videos.
‘In my second year of blogging I was interviewed by Instagram, which led to more people following me. I now have almost 18,000 followers!
‘I work early in the morning and again in the afternoon. I love socialising and go to as many gigs and festivals as I can. I also enjoy dancing, and even taking in a movie during the day. I’ve also had a book published –
Alternative Ageing – on how to age positively.
‘Blogging makes me happy and keeps me young. I love what I do.’
