Why do other people think they’re more important than me?

-

Q Why do I always have to wait for doctors, dentists, hairdressers and so on? Why do they think they’re more important than me? I have a busy life as well.

I can accept five minutes but not half an hour late. I’ve even gone to new people but they’re no better.

Janice, Farnham

A I understand it’s infuriating but I’m not sure it’s because they think they are more important

than you. You’ve identified by changing providers that this is something that happens when people are serving

others. I’m sure if you needed five minutes longer at the doctor or a change to your hairstyle, you’d want the practitioner to give you that time. Unfortunately, we can’t have it both ways! If time is of the essence, ask them if this is an unrealistic expectation. If it is, then knowing how it will be should help you to modify your thinking and will, I believe, reduce your frustration.
