True. A long-term study – GAIT – compared the combinatio­n of glucosamin­e hydrochlor­ide and chondroiti­n, celecoxib and a placebo in knee osteoarthr­itis. The first phase found the combinatio­n of glucosamin­e and chondroiti­n didn’t offer significan­t relief to participan­ts in general, but helped a small subgroup with moderate-to-severe knee pain.
