4 fixes for... coping with colour blindness
GET SUPPORT
It’s common. See colourblindawareness.org and ask your GP about conditions or medication that may make it worse.
LIGHT SMART
Install good-quality lighting in your home to help distinguish colours. Special tinted lenses, in one or both eyes, help some distinguish certain colours.
CHOOSE SMART
If making presentations, use magenta and green rather than red and green. Check slides through an online simulator such as Color Oracle or Coblis.
HELP FOR KIDS
Tell your child’s school if they have problems with their colour vision – they won’t be the only ones. Learning materials can be adapted.
