Release unnecessar­y tension in your back and let your spine breathe with the Alexander Technique’s classic semi-supine practice, says Roxani. ‘Lie on the floor with a few books under your head, so it’s level with your spine. Keep your feet flat on the floor and your knees pointing upwards. This simple restful posture allows constricte­d interverte­bral discs to relax, while the spaces between your vertebrae open and release tight nerves and muscles.

Try to get into the habit of doing this for a minimum of three minutes, maximum 15, several times a day.’
