Three-in-one pill could halve risk of stroke
One pill that combines three existing medications – a statin, aspirin and a drug to lower blood pressure – could cut the risk of a stroke or heart attack by around 50%, according to a Canadian study. Researchers at McMaster University say patients struggle with multiple pills a day, and prescribing the ‘polypill’ could avoid between five and 10 million people a year having a life-threatening stroke or heart attack.
