Ways to help

-

✢ Try to stay active, even on bad days, but learn to pace yourself to avoid overtiredness. Discuss managing your work pattern with your employer.

✢ Use high-factor (50+) sunscreen, available on prescription if you have lupus. Wear a hat in the sun, don’t sit in direct sunlight, and avoid fluorescent lighting.

✢ Try relaxation techniques to control anxiety, as stress can make symptoms worse. Stop smoking, eat a healthy balanced diet, and take vitamin D and calcium supplements.

✢ Ask your specialist or look online at lupusuk.org.uk (01708 731251) and versusarthritis.org (0800 5200520) for support, advice and information, and details of local support groups.
