Sit less, stand more
A study of overweight women’s metabolic responses to exercise showed insulin sensitivity improved by 20% during exercise and 13% if sitting less/standing more. The UK Biobank 11-year study of half a million people found the risk of type 2 diabetes was 50% greater if spending over six hours daily sitting compared to under two hours, while 30 minutes of daily physical activity instead of sitting reduced diabetes risk by 6-31%.
