Yes – it expresses self-confidence

‘I get lots of compliments on my grey hair’

-

Rosanna Child, 68, from Somerset, was inspired by her friends, who had already gone grey.

I always admired the elegance of grey-haired women, who had the self-confidence to age gracefully. Nowadays, I’m proud to embrace my natural look, and I couldn’t care less what anybody thinks.

That said, I wasn’t always so grey-positive. For years, I forked out for pricey hairdressers, but after totting up the cost of colouring, I decided my money was better spent elsewhere.

I dabbled in home colouring, but after too many afternoons spent stumbling around with a head caked in gunk, I gave that up. Alongside the faff, I found that regular dyeing was leaving my hair dry and damaged; the longer I continued, the worse it would get.

Looking around at my friends, I saw how many of them had embraced their greyness and looked fantastic. So, I finally took the plunge 10 years ago.

For me, going grey has been about becoming confident in myself and my look. I’m fortunate that my hair has gone grey evenly, and it is still thick.

I get lots of compliments on how it looks, and while I strongly believe everyone should make the decision for themselves, I’d highly recommend giving grey a go. Be yourself, be natural, and embrace it!
