False: Hair thinning is common in women, especially as they age, and can show as male pattern baldness. Talk to your hairdresser for guidance as to whether it is generalised thinning or patchy alopecia, or if you have a hair-pulling habit. Ask your GP to check your blood iron stores and thyroidhormone levels as they could be the cause.
