1 DO IT WITH A FRIEND
Having an exercise buddy is a great way to form a habit and keep motivated. ‘You’ll both be accountable for each other, and feel responsible for turning up and completing a workout together,’ says Joanna Dase, fitness expert at Curves International.
2 AIM FOR LITTLE AND OFTEN
Exercise habits often break because we aim to do too much. ‘Staying fit isn’t about being in the gym for hours on end,’ says Joanna, ‘it’s about staying within your own ability.’ Build movement into your day.
3 REWARD YOURSELF
Ideally not with a packet of biscuits! Perhaps a spa appointment or cinema visit after a certain number of steps. ‘Positive reinforcements can turn a chore into fun,’ says Joanna.
‘It can make a difference to your motivation and habit forming.’
