Bye-bye bunions

-

Bunions arise when the bony structures of the big toe have shifted position so the toe starts to point towards the smaller toes, says Emma. ‘Make sure your shoes are wide enough by drawing around your foot on a piece of paper and sliding the cut-out inside your shoe. If it rolls up at the sides you need a wider fit. The pain bunions cause can often be managed with inserts (orthotics) for your shoes – but take professional advice from a podiatrist, orthotist or physiotherapist before you part with your money,’ says Emma.

‘Your feet are made up of 26 bones, 33 joints and over 100 muscles, ligaments and tendons, and an incorrect insole can cause more problems than it fixes.’
