3 Jobs to do in the garden

-

1 Shelter insects

When mowing your lawn, dry out the grass clippings and leave them in a sheltered corner of your garden. They make excellent homes for bumblebees and slow-worms.

2 Sow seeds

Ensure tasty summer crops of fruit and veg by sowing seeds of sweet peppers, aubergines, chillies and tomatoes in trays or pots indoors.

3 Tuber cuttings

Increase your stock of dahlia plants by taking basal cuttings from tubers. Each tuber should provide roughly five new plants, which will bloom in summer.
