Length of antibiotic courses remains controvers­ial. Childhood community acquired pneumonia is usually treated with 10 days of antibiotic­s. A study where participan­ts were randomised on day six of prescribed antibiotic treatment to receive either five additional days of the same antibiotic or five days of matching placebo shows that five days is enough.
