KNITTED PENCIL CASE

FRONT

With 4mm needles and White, cast on 49 sts.

K 3 rows.

Join in Black; do not break off White.

1st row (right side): With

Black, k6, sl1, [k5, sl1] to last 6 sts, k6.

2nd row: P6, sl1, [p5, sl1] to last 6 sts, p6.

3rd and 4th rows: With White, k to end.

5th row: With Black, k3, sl1, [k5, sl1] to last 3 sts, k3.

6th row: P3, sl1, [p5, sl1] to last 3 sts, p3.

7th and 8th rows: With White, k to end.

These 8 rows form pattern. Repeat last 8 rows, 4 times more.

Do not cast off.*

Transfer your stitches to spare needle and cut yarn.

BACK

Work as for first side to *.

TO MAKE UP

Place both pieces together with right sides facing inwards and wrong sides facing outwards and with both needles pointing to the right (front piece will be at front and back piece will be at back). Cast off in White, by taking 1 st from each needle and knitting them together as

1 st whilst casting off. Sew side seams, using 1 st on each side for seam allowance.

Turn right-side out. Insert clear plastic pencil case into knitted case. With matching thread and using small running stitches, sew cast-on edge of knitted case to zip fabric at top of plastic pencil case.
