AI to help detect breast cancer

A new artificial intelligence (AI) tool that can spot a type of breast cancer that doctors find hard to see may be rolled out across the NHS. The device can help identify HER2-positive breast cancer, an aggressive type that affects around 14,000 women a year, and it’s hoped the tech will also be used to develop drug treatments. The AI is being developed by software company Owkin, King’s College and Guy’s and St Thomas’ Foundation Trust.
