Edinburgh International Book Festival
13-29 August
As a city that has inspired hundreds of novels, it’s no wonder the Edinburgh Book Festival has become a key event in the literary festival not to be missed – that, and the fact it is one of Europe’s most beautiful cities. Taking place in the heart of Edinburgh’s Old Town, this designated UNESCO City of Literature is the perfect place to mingle with other book lovers.
Started in 1983, the festival has grown to accommodate more than 900 events with interview-style conversations, discussions and even performances. Also, head to The Book Festival Bookshop in the beautiful old Fire Station Building on Lauriston Place, while you’re there.
✣ What to expect The final line-up is to be announced in June. Past guests have included Marian Keyes, JK Rowling, Bernardine Evaristo and Val McDermid (pictured).
