Olive oil lowers mortality
People who ate more olive oil experienced substantially lower mortality from cancer, cardiovascular disease and neurodegenerative diseases, according to pooled analysis of the Nurses’ Health and Health Professionals studies. This isn’t surprising, as Mediterranean diets are linked to lower cardiovascular disease risk, and olive oil features prominently in them. But the question is whether olive oil has directly protective effects or if it’s just a marker for a healthy way of life.
