Burmese the horse

Not transport in the traditional sense, but Burmese was a favourite with the Queen. This beautiful black horse was given to the Queen in 1969 by the

Royal Canadian Mounted Police, and they became a familiar partnership at the annual Trooping the Colour, with the Queen riding side-saddle. On retirement, Burmese lived out her days in Windsor so the Queen could visit her regularly, and the mare was given the unusual honour of being buried at Windsor when she died in 1990 at the age of 28. >>
