MY HEALTHY LIFE

My fail-safe remedy

I stick to the basics

– good sleep, food and

movement. I aim for eight hours sleep every night. I eat nourishing, non-processed foods to boost the nutrients absorbed. And I exercise daily – I do activities like walking, swimming or stretching.

My favourite meal

Whole salt-baked fish with a mountain of salad. It reminds me of Jimbaran in Bali, where eating fresh fish on the beach at sundown is unbeatable. Eating out is a minefield, especially on holiday when you’re indulging. Digesting four courses, a bread basket and wine each night leaves you feeling sluggish and bloated. The key is moderate indulgence. How I keep fit and healthy

I move every day and weight train for 45 minutes, three times a week, which is so important, especially for women to build and maintain muscle. Allowing my body time to recover in between training sessions gives me the energy to exercise with intensity.

My perfect day

I’d start with a 30- to 70-minute walk to clear my head, then I do 15 minutes of grounding, which involves standing barefoot in my garden, sipping a cup of coffee. It feels like a form of meditation. Once I’ve jumped in my ice bath for five minutes, I feel set for the day and only then do I open my phone or laptop to answer emails. If I’m not working, I love window-shopping, then I’d lunch with a friend and have a spa afternoon. ✱ Triple Olympian and trainer to the stars, Sarah Lindsay is the founder of Roar Fitness and specialises in weight training and advising on nutrition; roar-fitness.com
