Getting an early morning fitness fix has never been easier

Nothing feels quite as restorativ­e as a lovely lie-in – especially during the all-out busy festive season, but sometimes (sometimes being the key word here!), rising earlier than usual to tick your workout box before starting your day can reap serious rewards. Whether it’s a calming yoga session or an intense spin class, it could give you a physical and mental edge first thing in the morning – and we reckon that’s worth it. If that isn't enough, fitting it in before Christmas shopping and festive drinks derail your best intentions is a notable win at this time of year. ‘On a very basic level, starting your day by getting in tune with your body and waking yourself up with a surge of endorphins is better than rolling out of bed and sleepily crawling into work,’ says Melissa Power, master trainer at Centric: 3Tribes. ‘Plus you’ve then got the rest of the day to do as you please!’

But getting your workout out of the way before most people have even hit the snooze button isn’t even the best thing about morning sessions – although it might be the mostsmug
