POWERING DOWN SCANDI-STYLE IN... COPENHAGEN

-

WHERE? Nimb Hotel, Copenhagen, Denmark

WHY? To boost your wellness game with city buzz included

HOW MUCH? The three-night Nimb Retreat costs £1,137 per person, including all meals and yoga sessions, and runs 4-7 October; nimb.dk

And breathe. Arriving at Nimb Hotel for the eponymous

Nimb Retreat, you’ll feel your shoulders loosen and breathing slow as the penny finally drops – you’ve been given permission to relax. Enter one of the hotel’s suites and you’ll find a similar square footage to your average two-bed flat back in Blighty, with everything you’d expect from five-star Danish design – luxurious, definitely, but tasteful rather than lavish.

Over four days, Nimb’s retreat demands you happily submit to the wellness programme of morning and evening yoga, with holistic beauty treatments in between (the Winter Healing Facial leaves skin feeling wonderfully perky, and Body & Mind Therapy, a holistic massage, helps even the most wired guests switch off ). The retreat offers a special vegan menu – think Ottolenghi-style salads and a superfood-laden breakfast buffet. Lunch is at Nimb’s dreamy Restaurant Gemyse – a sustainable and beautifully designed space with its own kitchen garden – which is filled with light and bunches of kale in vases in place of flowers. Peak wellness. It would be easy to hibernate here for a weekend, but if you’re keen to explore, there’s plenty to see and do. Nimb is set in Copenhagen’s Tivoli Gardens, which is a stone’s throw from the harbour with its iconic multicoloured buildings. From here, you can take a guided boat tour through the idyllic canals or munch your way around the new gourmet food market, Torvehallerne, where everything from fresh fish to gourmet chocolate is on sale. The term ‘hygge’ might be worn out, but if you want to experience it first hand, head to Copenhagen and succumb to serenity.
