02 SCRATCHING THE SURFACE

-

Just got your head around jade rollers? Well, there’s a new beauty tool on the block. Meet the gua sha facial scraper: a gadget that delivers a snazzy skin boost based on ancient Eastern healing techniques. Take the pebble shaped tool and scrape the skin on your face to move the muscles and tissues beneath, stimulating blood flow, collagen production and lymphatic drainage. ‘Gua sha facials have been used in Asia for thousands of years,’ says celebrity facialist Su-man. ‘When done weekly, it can minimise pores and fine lines and improve complexion. While there’s no scientific proof, these benefits are results-based.’ Sounds brutal, but feels lovely, especially if you add a serum or oil to help the scraper on its travels.
