Progressio­n is key to staying motivated. If you’re a runner, tracking your 5k time is a useful indication. If getting stronger is your goal, a progress test could be as simple as seeing how many press-ups you can do in one minute, suggests Fiit strength and conditioni­ng coach Sean Kazab. For overall strength and fitness, he likes to use the test below. Go through the circuit once, resting for no more than 20 secs between exercises, and count your reps. Perform this test before a workout every four weeks or so. As well as helping you to keep tabs on your fitness, it can be a good indicator of where to position yourself when you’re starting a new plan.
