8 YOU’LL DO YOUR HOMEWORK

-

Feeling pretty smug that you got your hands on a set of dumbbells when they were as scarce as flour? Well, you’ve got a little catching up to do. With ‘working out from home’ here to stay, wise fitness fans are investing in making their home workout spaces as good as the gyms they once used to frequent. ‘We’re going to see lots of businesses offering equipment packages for people to have the right home gym set-up,’ says Erica Hood, celebrity trainer and founder of personal training app Hood Fit. New York-based home-focused design service Six Thirty – which will create a dedicated fitness space in your home (starting around £195) – has seen a spike in demand since lockdown. At the other end of the price scale, Eleiko designs and installs bespoke home gyms that can cost anything up to £15,000. Since lockdown, it’s received 125 requests per month, up from five per month back in late 2019. If you’re short on space, Escape Fitness provides a gym’s worth of equipment in one bench (including various dumbbells, kettlebells, a medicine ball and so on) for £1,500. It’s the right size to fit snugly in the corner of your living room.
