CONNECT

I have quite a few different groups of friends – from my closest friends at school and the children of the women my mum met in her postnatal class, to track friends who are based all over the world. It’s great, but it means my Whatsapp is a mess! It moves at a million miles an hour, whether it’s work, friends or family piping up.

READ

I recently finished Kenya Hunt’s book, Girl: Essays On Black Womanhood, and loved it – it was very honest and intelligent and definitely one of the best books I’ve read recently on that topic. I read quite a bit, but about three years ago I read This Is Going To Hurt by Adam Kay and I still think it’s one of the best books I’ve read in years.

SHARE

I’m lucky not to have felt much loneliness in my life so far. Being an athlete means I’m always around people – I really value any time I have alone. I remember one ex-sprinter once telling me not to take sporting rivalries too seriously; because when your career is over, the only people who understand what you’ve been through are those who were in those races, too.

NOURISH

I’m a full-on skincare routine person, as in: double cleanse, exfoliate, serum and night cream. These days, I flit between cleansers: Oskia London’s Perfect Cleanser transformed my skin when I first started using it, and I love The Body Shop’s Camomile Sumptuous Cleansing Butter for removing make-up before bed – it smells like sleep to me. I received the Barbara Sturm Enzyme Cleanser as a gift – it’s pricey, but amazing. WATCH

I’m a huge fan of

Rupaul’s Drag Race. Drag encapsulates what I love about fashion, which, to me, is about fantasy and showing the world who you are through what you wear. I love the way it celebrates self-confidence and self-expression. Being a guest judge would be my dream! I’m not sure how much I’d have to add of note, though.

AIM

My parents aren’t pushy at all. My dad doesn’t care where I come in a race – if I’m upset, he’s upset, whether I won or not! Between them, they instilled a lot of confidence in me from a young age. Knowing that I’ll always have people who love me and believe in me no matter what gives me a solid foundation to go and be my fullest self, without fear or insecurity.
