I’ve taken steps to protect my mental wellbeing online. I can be a big overthinker and very hard on myself. In some ways, I’m my own worst enemy. I’ve learned to deal with negative attention – and process my feelings – by regularly talking it through with a therapist. Likewise, being able to discuss it with my husband [singer Justin Bieber, 27], who’s been dealing with [fame] for a lot longer than I have, has been so helpful. He understands, and makes me feel like I’m not crazy.
LISTEN
Growing up, my mum had a holistic approach to health and taught me to listen to my body. This became very important when
I got Lyme disease
– a condition not everyone believes is real. It’s something my husband is currently dealing with. We’ve had to become very aware of how our bodies feel, and have been fortunate to find the right doctors who are committed to getting to the bottom of our symptoms [which can include fatigue, headaches and joint and muscle aches].
NOURISH
I think the key to nutrition is finding what works for you. For me, it’s about understanding which foods agree with me; emphasising the ones that make me feel good and limiting the ones I know my body tolerates less well. I really struggle to stay well-hydrated, so I’ll sip flavoured water to ensure I drink enough.
SWEAT
Exercise keeps my mind, as well as my body, healthy. I’ll do a couple of gym sessions a week: weight training and some boxing to get my cardio in. I also really like Pilates. I used to be a ballet dancer and I find the reformer uses a lot of the same elongating movements. It gets me in the best shape.
GLOW
I’m pretty consistent with my skincare. I double-cleanse with an oil-based cleanser and a foaming one. Then I’ll layer serums – usually niacinamide and hyaluronic acid – and moisturiser. In the morning, I’ll use SPF followed by Bareminerals Original Liquid Mineral Concealer. I dab it on where I need it – it’s so good there’s no need for foundation. SAVOUR
I’m at my happiest when I’m sitting in the backyard feeling the sun on my face. Or in the morning when I’m sipping a good cup of coffee. Or when I’m hanging with my husband. Or when I have a really good laugh with friends. I don’t think there’s one specific moment when I feel most content – I just always try to find the beauty where I can in life.
