Large-cup sports bras

Welcome to the WH Lab, where we put fit kit to the test to determine which pieces deserve a place in your workout wardrobe. This month, our testers put the best sports bras for DD+ cup sizes through their paces so you can run, jump and burpee to your hear

A good sports bra is the most important piece of kit in your arsenal; a 2018 study* found that breasts can move up to 14cm during exercise if left unsupported. Given that there are no muscles within the breast – they’re just fat and connective tissue – working out repeatedly with inadequate support can lead to irreparable breast tissue damage and ligament strain. Yikes. The hunt for a supportive tata-tamer is even harder for women with DD+ breasts. Step in, WH Lab – our team of large-chested testers tried on sports bras from every top brand to find the best for comfort, performance, size range and style. Consider this your one-stop support shop.

HOW WE TEST

The WH Lab put together a panel of five women with the UK’S average bra size (36DD) or above. They were tasked with wearing each bra while completing a series of medium to high-impact exercises, including running and HIIT, over a one-month period. Assessing the fit and general comfort, they also told us just how easy (or hard) each bra was to get on and off. Lastly, we wanted to know how supported they felt, asking them for feedback on overall bounce reduction.
