LIFE ACCORDING TO JILLIAN

-

REFLECT

When [your] kids are young you can’t relax because you’re worrying constantly, but 10 and eight are great ages. They’re so ridiculous, entertaining and funny and they command your attention so you don’t get too caught up in your own bullshit.’

FUEL

‘I am a caffeine person to the point that I invested in an organic nitro cold brew company. I take two 200mg doses of caffeine a day. I drink three quarters of a Lucky Jack Triple Jack in the morning at 7am (a full one is 320mg) with a tablespoon of cream. I have my second dose at 2pm. It’s a performance enhancer so I time my workouts about 45 mins after.’

PROTECT

‘I literally hide from the sun for skin protection. One of the silver linings of Covid is that I can walk around in a mask. I take vitamin D but I also stay the hell out of the sun.’

TRAIN

‘I have my own equipment line, but I love the Crossrope. It’s a $100 jump rope so I don’t know if many people use it, but I do like it. And I’ve definitely put it through its paces.’

LEARN

‘I love listening to the mathematician and string theorist [the idea that the fundamental particles we observe aren’t point-like dots, but rather tiny strings] Brian Greene on podcasts because he explains concepts in ways that you can grasp. Sometimes, you find yourself listening to something 15 times and you’re like, ‘What the hell?!’’

PLAN

‘I created something called ‘the 12-hour rule’. If you have 168 hours in a week and sleep eight hours a night, it leaves you with 112 waking hours. If you spend 50 hours a week working and 50 hours a week running your household, that leaves you with 12 hours. I schedule those 12 hours religiously (fitness sessions, catching up with friends, having a haircut) and that’s how I find balance.’
